This element is actually hard for people to understand. And I know exactly how they think! When I was told this, I rejected it. Why would I want to do this to myself? It did not make sense.
But at the end of the day regardless of how much I tried to ignore that truth, it was accurate, my thoughts where the base of my anxiety. I experimented with it. The higher I focused my energy on the anxiety the more powerful my anxiety attack became. So with the aid of a therapist, I was able to work on my thoughts and defeat my anxiety.
It could be a lie to say I'm anxiety free, however I am much more able to cope with anxiety, I've more coping approaches. Coping with anxiety is now much easier for me.
Another to remember , is that anxiety may be unpleasant, but it is not always a difficult thing. This anxiety can assist up be alert, the adrenalin can keep us focused. When anxiety is unyielding, when it interferes with relationships and activities-that's when you've crossed the line from normal anxiety into the territory of anxiety problems.
